01Project Context

Beyond Intelligence: Repositioning an Open AI Platform

DeepSeek is reshaping the future of AI by making advanced intelligence open, customizable, and universally accessible. Yet as the technology evolves, the brand faces growing challenges in sustaining user engagement, communicating its value, and building a cohesive ecosystem that supports long-term growth. This campaign reframes DeepSeek not just as a powerful tool, but as an everyday companion that brings intelligence to everyone, anywhere, at any time.

02Problem Insights & User Journey

Where the Current Experience Loses People

Mapping the primary stakeholder journey from first awareness through loyalty, which surfaced three recurring pain points standing between DeepSeek and long-term engagement.

Unclear value communication

What DeepSeek actually unlocks for a given user gets lost before they ever reach the product.

A fragmented ecosystem

General public, enterprises, developers, and institutions each hit a different, disconnected front door.

Losing ground to competitors

Without a sustained reason to stay, users drift to alternatives once the initial novelty wears off.

03Appendix: Market Understanding

Five Very Different Customers, One Platform

Before designing a single campaign, we built a comprehensive read of the market, policy environment, and technology landscape that every later decision had to hold up against, mapping who actually uses DeepSeek and why.

Table of customer segments: core customers (government agencies and state-owned enterprises), key customers (financial institutions), growth customers (SMEs and tech startups), strategic customers (academic and research institutions), and long-tail customers (developer communities), each with their typical pain points

04Design Objectives

What the Campaign Has to Achieve

Expand public awareness, deepen user participation, and accelerate enterprise-level partnerships that ultimately positioning DeepSeek as a globally trusted and future-ready AI platform.

05Core Marketing Strategies

A Three-Stage Approach to Amplify Brand Value

Rather than one campaign for everyone, the strategy moves through three deliberate stages, each aimed at a different part of the ecosystem: igniting awareness, establishing connections, and achieving comprehensive penetration.

Phase 1

AI Sparks

Make DeepSeek visible, relatable, and worth trying for the general public and creators.

Phase 2

AI Nexus

Turn interest into serious partnerships with enterprises and academic institutions.

Phase 3

AI Everywhere

Embed DeepSeek as trusted infrastructure for emerging markets and governments.

Phase 1 · AI Sparks General public · creators · tech developers

Igniting Awareness Through Everyday Creativity

The key message is simple: DeepSeek unlocks AI for everyone, empowering people to create, explore, and innovate effortlessly. A creator-led video series, “100 Ways to DeepSeek,” puts that message inside content people already watch.

Phase 2 · AI Nexus Enterprises · academic & research institutions

Establishing Connections With Serious Adopters

AI Lab Programs give enterprises and universities a dedicated on-ramp through real integrations, like the DeepSeek Analytics (DA4) reporting tool, that make the platform legible to teams evaluating it for long-term use, not just curious individuals.

Phase 3 · AI Everywhere Emerging markets · governments

Comprehensive Penetration Into New Territory

The final stage layers mixed-channel advertising across social, offline, and developer-community channels on top of the trust already built in Phases 1 and 2, so DeepSeek can enter emerging markets and public-sector contexts as established infrastructure rather than an unfamiliar newcomer.

08Reflection

From Executor to Strategic Thinker

This project helped me grow from an executor to a strategic thinker. I learned to “translate” DeepSeek’s complex technology into tangible, everyday value for users, and to implement that translation through a three-stage marketing framework. The core growth lay in making creative decisions under the combined constraints of technological complexity, global cultural differences, and business goals, moving me from a service designer toward a “value architect” connecting product and market.

  • Finding a balance between technological complexity and user experience simplicity.
  • Using data to tell stories, making marketing decisions more scientific.
  • Achieving localized resonance while maintaining brand consistency across cultural contexts.
